For more than 12 years, Rodriguez & Associates has proudly sponsored our local hockey team, the Bakersfield Condors, supporting an organization that brings our Bakersfield community together. Over the past two years, that partnership has included Fighting Cancer Night.
On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Condors hosted their annual Fighting Cancer Night at the Dignity Health Arena. The evening honored the Kern County Cancer Foundation and raised funds for local children battling cancer. During the game, players wore special purple jerseys, which were auctioned off afterward, with proceeds benefiting pediatric cancer patients in our community.
This cause is deeply personal to Rodriguez & Associates partner Danay Gonzalez. Danay’s connection to the Kern County Cancer Foundation is rooted in her own family’s experience with cancer. Her father, Alfredo Rojas, has battled leukemia and lymphoma, and her younger sister, Karina Rojas, has battled metastatic thyroid cancer. Watching loved ones face cancer brings a profound mix of fear, hope, and resilience, and it deepens a commitment to stand beside other families walking similar paths.
In 2024, Danay brought that commitment to the stage when she performed at the Media Music Jam fundraiser benefiting the Kern County Cancer Foundation, using her voice to help raise funds and awareness for families navigating cancer.
This year’s Fighting Cancer Night, Danay’s sister attended the game and had the honor of ringing the opening bell, a powerful moment of strength and recognition. The Condors also presented Danay with a custom jersey in honor of her and her family’s continued support.
Events like Fighting Cancer Night matter because they bring the community together around a shared purpose. Through sponsorships, fundraising, and simple acts of solidarity, we can help ensure that families facing pediatric cancer feel supported, seen, and never alone.
