Chantal Trujillo and Danay Gonzalez, partners at Rodriguez & Associates, were guests on The Real Talk Podcast in celebration of Women’s History Month in March. The “dynamic duo”, as referred to by the podcast host, share their life and career stories including their background, education, and standout moments from their practice as personal injury attorneys in Kern County.
In discussing what drove them to pursue a career in law, both cited the desire to serve their beloved community of Bakersfield and to “be a voice” for its Latino community members. The ability to speak Spanish and a similar upbringing to their clients enables them to easily communicate and, more importantly, understand their clients’ values and cultural backgrounds. In fact, they hold the top three verdicts in Kern County and all the families represented were Latino families. The bonds developed between themselves and clients go far beyond the courtroom and often they are considered more as “family” than clients.
Chantal and Danay also spoke about their pre-trial rituals including a trial playlist and a certain way of entering the courthouse. In closing, they offered advice to anyone who is thinking of pursuing a career in law.
